Little Crafts That Go A Long Way

Book Marks

So I made a bookmark the other day and am really proud of it. It's one of those really simple to make bookmarks, and I bet you you already have the materials to make it in your own home. I saw this online somewhere else and so I decided to make one. And now, to show you how to do it!
Tis' the one I made

What you will need:

An old or ribbon or a ribbon you don't like.
Scissors
Needle and thread
Button (Doesn't matter what size)
Elastic band (preferably around the same size of the button you chose)

What to do:
    Step 1:                  Step 2:                  Step 3:                  Step 4:
Step one: Measure how long you want your bookmark to be. I used a book to help me out. Cut the ribbon for it to be with the book.  I made sure the ribbon didn't touch the other side when measuring it with the book. So just cut enough to where you just see a little gap for the book to show through a bit.

Step two: Take one end of the ribbon and sew in the button. I made sure its in the middle (in width) but not at the very bottom (in length) - because I want to leave a little bit of the ribbon down to make it look more prettier. But you don't have to if you don't like to see the ribbon on the bottom.

Step three: Fold the other side of ribbon down to prepare for sewing with the elastic. If your ribbon tends to fray, you may want to fold it twice. Make sure the elastic is in the ribbon before sewing. Also make sure the sewing is tight, if you're doing this by hand, I would sew it once one way and once the opposite way.

Step four: And you're done! See how simple that was?

These are some great bookmarks for a Mothers Day or a Birthday present for a girly girl who loves to read!
